You can change your SBI net banking user ID only once.
When you register for net banking and receive your Welcome Kit, it will have your temporary system-generated user ID. You can change this user ID only once and pick one of your choice. When you login to internet banking for the first time, it will prompt you to change the user ID. The user ID you choose then will be final, and you can’t change it after that.


One Method to Change SBI Internet Banking Username

If, for some reason, you have to change the user ID after the first time, there is one method you can try.

  • Deactivate your net banking. You can do so by visiting your home branch with your ID proof.
  • Then re-register for internet banking online or from your home branch.
  • You can now choose a new user ID.

How to recover your old user ID?

If you have forgotten your SBI net banking user ID, you can simply recover it instead of changing it.
Use either of these methods to recover your user ID:

Offline Methods:

  1. Visit your bank branch with your ID proof and request them to help you recover your forgotten user ID. After confirming your identity, they will tell you your user ID.
  2. Alternatively, go to any SBI branch and request them to re-issue your login password. Along with the new password, the kit/letter will also mention your user ID.

Update Your Mobile Number in Your SBI Bank Account

There are many benefits that come with linking your mobile number to your SBI bank account. You can easily change your internet banking account password or regenerate a forgotten password. You will receive information on all functions carried out in your bank account, and you can also receive important bank notices.

Updating Your Mobile Number Through SBI Internet Banking

  • Visit the SBI Internet banking portal.

  • Go to 'Profile->Personal Details->Change mobile Number' under 'My Accounts’, which appears on the left panel of the screen.

  • Now, select the Account number, enter the Mobile number, and click on 'Submit.'

  • You can see the last two digits of the registered mobile number displayed on the screen.

  • You have successfully updated your mobile number.

  • Visit your nearest SBI Branch.

  • Fill in and submit a letter of request.

  • After the verification, your mobile number will be linked to the branch.

Updating Your Mobile Number Through an SBI ATM

  • Visit the nearest ATM.

  • Select 'Registration'->'Mobile Number Registration'->'Change Mobile Number.' 

  • Enter and confirm your old mobile number.

  • Now, enter and confirm the new mobile number.

  • Both the new and old mobile numbers will receive a message to send the OTP and reference number received in the SMS. The format to send the message: ACTIVATE (IOTP VALUE) + (REF NUMBER) TO 567676 within 4 hours.

  • Your mobile number will be updated.

Update Your Email ID to Your SBI Account

Updating Your Email ID Through SBI Internet Banking 

  • Log in to your Internet banking account.

  • Under 'My Accounts’, go to 'Profile->Personal Details->Change Email ID'. 

  • Select the account number, enter the email ID, and click on 'Submit.'

  • You can either self-approve by entering the OTP sent on your registered mobile number, or you can opt for branch approval.

  • The status will be sent to you on your updated email ID.

Updating Your Email ID Through an SBI Branch

  • Visit the nearest SBI Branch.

  • Fill in and submit a letter of request.

  • After verification, the branch updates the email ID.

  • You will receive a message on your updated email ID regarding the status of updation.

Update Your Address to Your SBI Account 

As per the KYC guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India, cardholders must submit their KYC documents in case there is a change in their current residential address on the card account. You must submit a self-attested document of proof for the current/permanent residential address.

Here is the list of the documents that are accepted for current/permanent residence address proof. You can submit any one of the following documents as your address proof: 

  • Passport

  • Driving Licence (both sides)

  • Voter's Identity Card (both sides)

  • Aadhaar Card/Virtual ID

  • Address proof issued by State/Central Government

  • NREGA issued job card duly signed by a State Government officer

  • Letter issued by National Population Register containing the name and address details

  • Utility bills (electricity, telephone, postpaid mobile phone, piped gas, water bill) not more than two months old, of any service provider.

  • Property/Municipal Tax receipt

  • Documents from departments or public sector undertakings, if they have the address on them

  • Pension/family pension payment orders (PPOs) issued to retired employees by the Government.

  • Letter of accommodation allotment from an employer, that is issued by any State/Central Government departments, statutory/regulatory bodies, scheduled commercial banks, financial institutions, public sector undertakings, or listed companies.

Points to remember

  • Documents must be valid on the current date.

  • Documents must be self-attested.

  • Mention your registered mobile number/registered email id either on the KYC documents or in the email body.

  • Driving licences issued in states where it is mentioned that the document cannot be used as address proof will not be considered as address proof.

You must send the requisite KYC documents for your current/permanent residence address as proof through any of the following modes:

  • Website: Login to sbi card online and update a scanned copy of your current/permanent residence address instantly.

  • SBI Card Mobile App: You can use the SBI Card Mobile App to update your current/permanent residence address.

  • E-mail: You can email the document/s from your registered email id and attach a copy of the self-attested KYC document at [email protected]

  • Courier: Enclose your current/permanent residence address proof and send it along with the declaration form to the address given below:

How to apply for SBI net banking Online? Full guide

3.Fill up this form opened in the new window with proper data. You can find your Account Number, CIF number and your branch code in your bank passbook. Or you can get the branch code by clicking Get branch code button present there in the page, or by checking your last five digits of your branch IFSC code printed on your passbook.

4.Enter the mobile number which one is registered and linked to your bank account. If there is no mobile no. registered with your account, first, register it in your branch then put it in registered mobile no. field. 5.In the Facility required field select ‘Full transaction Rights’. If you select can i apply for sbi net banking online transaction rights’ or’ view only’ then you can’t make transactions through your sbi net banking.

    • You will be redirected to SBI payment gateway page. Insert your card details there for a transaction of 1 Rupee.
    • Once you have completed the transaction, a temporary username will be given to you and a page will prompt you to set your login password.
    • After setting your login password it will show you that your registration is successful and your Username is sent to your registered mobile number.
    • Now close this tab and go to onlinesbi.com and click on LOGIN button and then continue to log in.
    • Enter Username that u received in a message to your mobile number and Enter the password you set just a while before.
  • Now you will be prompted to set a Username of your choice and then you will have to set a new login password.
  • Then set your profile password and other profile details. After your profile password is set click on proceed button.
  • Go to Upgrade access level option present in the left sidebar under e-service menu. By default, if the Access level will be view only, change it to Full Transaction Rights and submit.

Note: Sometimes Access Level does not get upgraded and it shows some error message.In that case please contact to the customer care and complain this issue caused in sbi net banking. Or best buy visa application may contact your branch for this.
